Bovi was one of the hosts of the 2021 Headies Award Ceremony held yesterday February 21, 2021. In a rare gesture, Bovi wore a dress showing the Nigerian flag with some stains of red (like blood stains).
This image was one of the most popular images that #EndSARS protesters used to symbolize the Lekki Massacre that took place on the October 20th, 2020, an event which has been denied controversially by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
While many fans across the country have applauded him for showing such solidarity with the people that allegedly died on that day, Zara Onyinye has called him out for violating the law and also, disrespecting Nigeria as a whole.
According to her, his dress violated “The Flag and Coat of Arms Act Cap F30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 S.7”

But we’re in a lawless society.
People don’t even know where their right stop and when they cross it.
It’s all about the clout and clicks.
I have no qualms about people seeking a better means of livelihood and nationhood
Yet if a “revolution” or movement disrespect the nation like this.
Does it not question their real intention and actions?
This flag represent what their movement is about.
Does Bovi know the amount of sacrifices that was made and still being made to have this flag flying?
Law and order… Disobedience and consequence without fear or favour.
The foundation of any organised and functional society.
If we must demand for a better country/ Nigeria
Then we expect Nigeria to demand of us to be better citizens.
Bovi is wrong here.
This thing he did is not sensible at all.
But anything for momentary adulation.
That’s all Nigeria celebrities know
I hope the police can be brave enough to do their duties for once!”
