Rema beats the likes of Burna Boy (Nigeria) Marwa Loud (Morocco) Black Sherif (Ghana) Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania) to the African Artiste of the Year Award.
However, Rema left many gushing at his award acceptance speech as he delivered one of the best speeches by any artistes at the Headies Award.
Reacting to other African artistes berating Afrobeats by creating their own genre, Rema said that at the end of the day, they will all meet at the Afrobeats Award.
He further concluded that he is not at the 16th Headies Award because of the given to him rather he is at the award to show his support to the community of Afrobeat.
