The announcement was made in the early hours of Tuesday, July 4th via the mavin boss, Don Jazzy‘s Instagram page as he celebrated Rima’s birthday and the release of Johnny Drille’s recent song, the best part.
Fans and followers were surprised as they queried the existence of Rima Tahini. Below are the eight things to know about her.
Rima Tahini was born in Sierra Leone in July 4th, to a native mother and a Lebanese father. Her father was the owner of a big fabric company in Sierra Leone. Her family escaped to Guinea after the outbreak of civil war. They returned to Sierra Leone after the war but her father’s fabric company vanished, losing the company resulted to financial hardships for the family.
She studied Economics in an educational institution, located at Johannesburg, South Africa, African Leadership Academy. Rima furthered her academic career as she bagged bachelor’s degree in Business and Economics from Brandeis University in Massachusetts. She received highest honour “Suma Cum Laude”.
Before completing her undergraduate education, Rima worked in the energy industry and developed crucial professional skills. She worked in thriving places like Johannesburg, Accra, and Lagos for prestigious companies like Tata Africa Holdings, Endeavor Energy Holdings, and Symbion Powers, where she offered her talents and knowledge.
At age of seven, Rima Tahini could speak four different languages; Krio, Arabic, French and English.
In 2016, Rima became a part of Kupanda Capital and was instrumental in developing and bringing the partnership between Mavin and Kupanda to fruition. After working for some years, she was transferred to Lagos. Currently, Rima also became a member of the Recording Academy’s 2022 class and collaborates with some of the most prominent musical talents from Africa to date.
Rima is the director of A&R for the music powerhouse Mavin Records. Over the last decade, Mavin Records has given us some of the most unforgettable classic songs and artists from all over the continent. Rima plays a crucial role in overseeing and upkeeping all the creative work from the label’s artists, including music videos, live shows, and merchandise.
Aside from being an entertainer, Rima has different skills in fashion design, data analysis, entrepreneurship amongst other skills.
Rima Tahini and Johnny Drille got married on January 5th 2022.
