D’banj breaks silence after being released by ICPC over alleged N900M N-Power fraud

Famous Nigerian singer and songwriter Oladapo Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’banj has finally break silence on his arrest.

Recall Intel Region reported yesterday, December 9th, 2022 that D’banj has been released by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) after almost 72 hours in custody.

His lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi made this know, although the ICPC might summon him later.

The “Emergency” hitmaker was arrested and detained on Tuesday after ICPC operatives closed in on him, forcing him to surrender himself at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria’s.

The pop star, a wealthy Nigerian celebrity, is accused of fraudulently diverting N900M earmarked by the Nigerian government for N-Power project, an empowerment programme set up by the Nigerian government in 2016 to address youth unemployment and increase social development.

Following his release, D’banj via his verified Instagram page disclosed that he has no business with fraud. He noted that he was invited by ICPC following the ongoing investigation by the commission and he has assisted them with all he knows.

D’banj who was released on self-recognition wrote; “Global thank you to the world. I was invited on an ongoing investigation in ICPC. I have assisted the commission with all I know and I am confident in their capacity to unravel the truth. I have no business with fraud, all I do is chop life. I was released on self-recognition because nothing was seen or found on me. God bless you all my people.”
