I brought Amapiano to Nigeria – Singer May D says as he debunks Davido, Wizkid, Burna, & others’ claims (Video)

Popular Nigerian singer, Akinmayokun Awodumila better known as May D in a recent post on social media disclosed that he is the one that brought Amapiano to Nigeria from South Africa.

May D made this known in a recent post on his official Twitter handle today, September 14th and by extension back it up with prove that triggered reactions among netizens. 

This reaction from May D comes after Davido carpets DJ Maphorisa for giving credits to Wizkid and Burnaboy over Amapiano’s success in Africa

Today, September 14th, Grammy award winner, Wizkid releases new song titled “Bad To Me” that is made up of Amapiano tune.

This generated several reactions as many disclosed that Davido brought Amapiano from South Africa to Nigeria 2 years ago. Obviously, Davido is well known for his amapiano songs that include, Focalistic, Champion Sound, Electricity among others and how he influenced them.

However, popular South African Disc Jockey, DJ Maphorisa who is an expert in producing Amapiano tune and well known for his body of works with Wizkid, Burnaboy, Davido and other top artistes debunks Davido claims as he noted that it was Wizkid and Burnaboy as they get featured on the amapiano song 3 years ago title “Sponono”

Reacting to the above controversies, May D while on a podcast “IONWANNATALK” hosted by media personalities Big J debunks Davido, Wizkid, Burnaboy and others claims as he asserts that he brought Amapiano to Nigeria in the year 2014 following his features with South African singers.

He mentioned of May D “Get Down” featuring Oskido and another song “Happiness” he featured on by Mafikizilo that bagged award at the South African Music Award (SAMBA).

He noted that after him, Davido is the next person that brought Amapiano to Nigeria.

May D tweeted; “Na me bring amapiano come naija , and I have awards to prove that! We started the naija South African collaboration! I don’t like saying shit like this but y’all like putting me under the box.”

He added; “After me was David.”
