A famous Nigerian lawyer has shared his two cents on how landlord-tenants relationship should be when it comes to the increment of house rent.
Sharing his opinions on the bird app, the lawyer identified as @Egi_nupe_ stated that a landlord can not increase house without the tenants’ consent.
He advised that if any landlord increases rent without consulting his tenants, only the court have the right to evict such renter away from the house.

The activist revealed that the court order can come in after the expiration of quit notice requested by the tenants.
He wrote, “Your landlord cannot unilaterally increase rent, both of you must agree. If he insists, tell him to serve quit notice. After the expiration, only a court order can eject you from the property”.
