Hussein stated that his journey to prison began when a soldier attacked one of his rental apartments in search of a tenant who allegedly committed a crime.
The Military officers alleged that his tenant had robbed and killed someone, but they arrested the landlord and charged him with helping and assisting a known criminal.
Hussein was arrested along with six other suspects and he couldn’t believe his eyes because he was innocent. He was then placed on a death row and taken to a detention center in Ukonga, Ilala District, Dar es Salaam region of Tanzania, after which he was transferred to another location. But his fate began to change in 2005, when President Benjamin Mpaka removed death sentence.
