“@aproko_doctor talks about the effects of bleaching all the time. Kidney failure, Skin cancer, Skin infections, Poor wound healing, Discoloration of the skin, Stretch marks etc. Suturing a bleached skin is sight to behold, you just can’t hold it, it would keep breaking down”.

“Also, you do not want your kidneys to fail my G, everything else goes downhill from there”.

Reacting to the post, many users found the mother attitude towards her baby to be so demoralizing. Some reactions are shown below:

@JaneIrunguKE said, “How do you even think of bleaching kids💔😱”.

@azania_na said, “This is so sad and how colourism is still so prevalent in our society in 2022… I-💔”.

@AzakaRichie said, “I know I’d be flogging my patients parents if i was a pediatrician”.

@LilyNnabude said, “This kind of mentality of wanting your children to be light skinned or fair is self hate, and it’s self destructive. Imagine taking certain drugs while pregnant to make the baby come out lighter skinned. What sort of mindset is this? Your melanin is like gold! why do you hate it?”
