Jonathan, a Seychelles giant tortoise, who is claimed to be the world’s oldest turtle known to be alive as he will clock 190 this year has caused debate between the internet users.
Jonathan is said to had lived through both the world wars, the Russian Revolution, and changing of 39th U.S presidents as well as Seven British Monarch.
It also lived through Coronavirus(COVID-19), a global deadly viral disease, that was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan, China
It was brought to the microblogging social media platform, twitter which caused controversies between the netizens claiming Jonathan is not the world oldest turtle saying some instances.

@ngengimagana said: “The oldest one is actually in Mombasa Kenya 202 years old”.
@iam_eronsb commented: “How are you guys sure Jonathan is the oldest turtle alive? Like have you gone round the world?”
They need to come to ogbomosho palace to see the 300+ years old tortoise in the king’s palace.
Some netizens relates the age of the turtle to that of human saying human beings are expected to live beyond 500 years but sin and evil reduced the lives to the expectancy of 70 years. Some said that it was God that reduced it 70 years
following the reactions;
“It just reminds me that humans once lived beyond 500 years. Sin & evil made YHWH to reduce man’s average life expectancy to 70 yrs. That grace seems to be enjoyed by tortoises today”.
