The story of a young Ghanaian couple who graduated from university and worked for five years have shocked many social media users as they spent their life savings of GHc 70,000 (N4,549,701.52) on their wedding, house rent and naming ceremony.
According to Chris Vincent of Ghanacelebrities.com who is a cousin to one of the two lovers, the couple were dating when the lady got pregnant.
With pressure from their families to tie the knot quickly before the pregnancy surfaces, the two lovers had no choice than to dig deep into their pocket and pull out all the money they had.
Chris Vincent told Ghanacelebrities that ” “The traditional wedding, the white wedding, and the associated receptions cost the couple about 45,000 GHS; they used 15,000 GHS of their monies to rent a place somewhere in Tema for a year,”
Just seven months after the wedding, the couple gave birth and spent GHc 10,000 (N649,957.36) which remained after their wedding on the naming ceremony.
According to Chris, the couple could have obtained a land somewhere in Accra, and even start building a two-bedroom on this land with their savings.
