In a recent statement, popular Nollywood actress Ini Edo revealed why she decided to have a child via surrogacy.
The 41-year-old actress while featuring as a guest on the program #WithChude hosted by media personality Chude Jideonwo said she opted for surrogacy because she had a couple of miscarriages.
She added that as of then, she doesn’t have a husband and she wants a child of her own and thankfully her eggs are good making it easier for her to pass through the surrogacy easily.

Recall on March 16th, 2023, Ini Edo celebrates her daughter, “Baby light” whom she had via surrogacy as she clocks 2-year-old.
Ini Edo in her words; “I chose a surrogate because…I’ve had couple of miscarriages you know and I just got tired.. of trying and I didn’t want to try.
I don’t have a husband, so I’m like I want a child for myself whether I have a husband or not. So, what other options could I have had? And I wanted it to be my child, my eggs. Thankfully, my eggs are good.
You live this life for yourself. It’s just you that matters. You can’t be the judge of your own life and my life at the same time, No! This is my own life, I’d hold it.
The truth is people don’t really care. If you care enough for yourself, that’s enough. Dont expect people to care. Everybody has their own problems to deal with. People have issues.

They’re just thinking of themselves…they’re just using their own frustrations and venting it out on you. Perhaps the courage you have, they don’t have… so just do you.
Because you’re listening to them, you’d sit on the same seat with them and that’s basically what they want.”

djfame1: There’s no way she’s going to be emotional attached to the child. Women love their children more than anything in the world because of the ‘suffer’ they went through from pregnancy to childbirth to breast feeding and raising the child. All these things makes the mother emotionally attached to their chid/ren.

meetjennifer_: At the risk of being criticized or asked to mind my business, I do not totally agree with that part where she said “just live for yourself”. What about the child? How will the child feel about this? Will she accept it? Growing up to know that she doesn’t have a known father. Seeing her friends’ regular families, daddy, mummy, kids and knowing that hers is a bit different, will the child really want this? Aside living for ourselves, I think we should also consider the overall interest of the child too. Well, I hope everything turns out right for both of them. Got nothing but love for Ini. Just thinking aloud.
