Award-Winning Nigeria, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun professionally known as Wizkid has been snubbed by the Grammy, as Beninese singer and songwriter, Angélique Kidjo, others shine at the prestigious Award.
The 64th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony is ongoing today, April 3rd at at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The Award recognizes the best recordings, compositions, and artists of the eligibility year, running from September 1, 2020, to September 30, 2021.
Unfortunately, Wizkid who had two nominations that include Best Global music performance (Essence) and Best Global music album (Made in Lagos: Deluxe edition) lost both at the 2022 Grammy Awards.
Wizkid lost Best Global music album (Made in Lagos: Deluxe edition) to Angelique Kidjo’s “Mother Nature.”
Also, Wizkid lost Best Global music performance (Essence) to Aroof Aftab’s “Mohabbat”, the first ever female Pakistani GRAMMY winner. See below;
However, Angelique Kidjo has taken to her official Instagram page to celebrate her 4th Grammy Award. See her post below;
While receiving her award, Angelique Kidjo thanked Burna boy, Mr Eazi and Yemi Alade and refers to them as the “the young leading musicians in Africa”

Canadian singer, Justin Bieber who received eight nominations this year, a total topped only by Jon Batiste who amassed 11 nods went home empty-handed.
