Kane Ota tanaka was born on the 2nd of January, 1903 in Wajiro Village, Japanese Empire (modern day Higashiku, Fukuoka, Japan). she died April 19, 2022 which makes her exactly 119years, 107days before her death.
Senior Gerontology Consultant Robert Young confirmed the news, as well as Kane’s record as the oldest person alive and the oldest person alive (female) in 2019.
She was verified the world’s oldest living person following the death of Chiyo Miyako on 22 July 2018. She is the oldest verified Japanese person and the second oldest verified person ever.
Kane had lately been hospitalized and discharged several times, according to a tweet shared by her family on April 13th, 2022. The tweet was posted in japanese but can be translated as below

Kane had been living in a nursing home in Higashi-ku, Fukuoka, since September 2018, and was said to be in good health on her 118th birthday. Tanaka was supposed to carry the Olympic torch at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, but she backed out due to concerns about an increase in COVID-19 cases in Japan. She took short walks in the nursing home’s hallways and occasionally played Othello. Her interests included calligraphy and arithmetic problems. She was the grandmother of five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Kane Tanaka died at a hospital in Fukuoka on April 19, 2022, nine days after becoming the second confirmed person in history. Her death was announced on April 25.
