Job Description:
The ECOWAS Volunteer Communication and Visibility Specialist will work directly with the ECOWAS Peace Fund (EPF) Office under the Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security (PAPS) at ECOWAS Commission.
RESPONISBILTIES
- He/She is responsible for providing various forms of communication-related technical assistance and improving the communication and visibility of the APSA Support Program, the EU, the AU and ECOWAS, within ECOWAS, in Africa and worldwide, through the use of classic and electronic communication and visibility instruments.
- He/she will provide internal communication and visibility support (information dissemination, updates, visibility items, facilitation, advices, etc.) to both the APSA IV stakeholders, the Peace Fund and the Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security.
- He/She will assist the stakeholders in providing content, input and appropriate information in synergy the AU & EU arrangements for Communication on APSA as well as ECOWAS Communication Directorate.
The ECOWAS Volunteer Communication and Visibility Specialist shall work under the direct supervision of EPF Manager, and shall undertake the following duties and responsibilities:
- Produce/generate content for EPF website, CSO Portal, EPF Social Handles (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, )
- Generate content for PAPS newsletters, APSA IV and Peace Fund visibility,
- Compile relevant data and information from different sources and the internet
- Post information on the websites and social handles
- Edit documents and publications, and infographics
- Create/generate content
- Digitalize documents
- Issue briefs and Press releases
- Supervise the implementation of Visibility and Communication strategy
- Facilitate the generation of Mix virtual/in-person platforms for meetings
- Develop scenarios,
- Design communication and visibility items
- Assist in Producing documentaries
- Apply/use digital photographic and video equipment
- Create and manage alerts
- Develop an online training platform
- Facilitate meetings, events, forum
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Master of Science/Master Journalism, Mass Communication, Communication-related fields
- Journalistic writing, Classic and electronic, media Report writing, Content generation
- minimum of 3 years of experience.

- Good oral and written communication skills
- Interpersonal skills

Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Programme Officer, Youth, the Youth Programme Specialist performs a wide range of functions on behalf of the EYDSC. Its main role is to provide technical support and expertise in the development and implementation of programmes and projects for the ECOWAS youth, within the framework of the implementation of the ECOWAS Youth Policy.
The Youth programme specialist shall work closely with all the staff of the Centre and with other partners to ensure a successful and quality service delivery.
She/He shall :
- Contribute to the conception and implementation of specific programmes and projects geared towards the development and empowerment of the youth in West Africa
- Participate, as necessary, in setting up projects for the financing of youth projects and enterprises
- Finalise the set up and implementation of the online Crowd-funding platform for the financing of youth projects and enterprises;
- Research, analyze and follow up national, regional and international texts and instruments relating to youth and youth development, and submit regular reports to the Director
- Find and monitor structures, organisations and youth associations in existence at national and regional levels. Set up a directory/database and submit regular reports thereon for use by the Center
- Set up a comprehensive database to identify and monitor the progress of young people who have participated in the EYSDC-organized training
- Identify and follow up partners for the financing of the Centre’s programmes as well as opportunities for financing youth projects and enterprises in West Africa
- Identify and develop policies and youth initiatives to be implemented at the ECOWAS Member States level, as well as policies and initiatives to be implemented at the international level to benefit ECOWAS Youth
- Perform any other task related to the promotion of ECOWAS Youth as may be demanded by the authorities.
Qualification and Requirement:
- A minimum of Bachelors’ degree in the Social Sciences, International Relations, Economics, Youth or related discipline.
At least 3 years of professional experience in project management, youth coaching or youth programme organisation and management, international development, or any other related field.
Key Competences:
- Good understanding and mastery of youth issues and of youth empowerment
- Good knowledge of the socio-economic situation of the ECOWAS region
- Good editorial and research skills
- Good analytical and composition skills
- Good communication skills and ability to connect with target public
- Inclination to network and good knowledge of networking
- Takes initiatives to finance youth-related projects
- Good organisational skills ;

- He/she will provide internal IT support (security, updates, maintenance of websites and social media handles, online conferencing facilitation, connections, internet support, etc.) for both the APSA IV stakeholders, the Peace Fund and the Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security.
- He/She will assist the stakeholders in the preparation, submission and follow up of the workplans, providing and retrieving appropriate data and information through the online Monitoring and evaluation of the APSA IV programme in synergy with AMERT (the African Monitoring and Evaluation Reporting Tool).
- He/She will collaborate with the Information Technology Service Directorate of ECOWAS.
