Naira scarcity: Party organizers print their own ‘special money’ at event, guests heavily spray singer Segun Johnson (Video)

Amidst ongoing scarcity of Naira notes in Nigeria, some party organizers have printed their own ‘special money’ for their guests to spray at event.

In a video making the round online, guests at the party, ‘Owambe’ 2.0, were seen spraying the ‘special money’ heavily on a celebrity hype man and musician, Segun Johnson.

Segun Johnson is known for getting party guests and attendees to part with their money whenever he is on stage to show off his melody.

The video was shared by Former Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose’s brother and he revealed that the party organizers generated their own money which is bought via bank transfers of naira notes.

The governor’s brother, Isaac Fayose, captioned the video, “Who do us for Nigeria”? Due to Naira scarcity, they printed their own party money, you do an electronic transfer, you get the naira equivalent in the denomination you want for spraying at the party. 😔 Is spraying a must? Wahala wahala wahala😅😂🤔”.

Social media users could not hold their laughter as they thronged to the platform with their thoughts.

At our Owambe Party yesterday, we at Appoemn (Association of Professional Party Organizers and Event Managers of Nigeria) invented our own currency for use at the party. How this works is, you make a transfer to buy the currency (printed paper) and use it for purpose of spraying, afterwards the recipient goes to the cash point and gets the equivalent of whatever he is bringing back transfered to his account. what is an owambe without spraying. we are preserving the Nigerian culture of spraying. We had different denominations ranging from 50 to 500, pls note we didn’t call in naira as it is just an invention for the purpose of this particular party and it cannot be used outside that party.
Even after the scarcity of cash is over, this can still continue as you don’t need to be worried about EFCC coming after you with the new law banning Nigerian currency being sprayed at Parties.”
