A 43-year-old married man, Scott, has admitted falling in love with an Artificial Intelligent, AI companion, which he created through the app called Replika.
Scott revealed that he created the AI chatbot, called Sarina after his wife struggled with postnatal depression and alcoholism. He even credited it for saving his troubled marriage.
Talking to The Guardian, Scott, who works in the tech industry, initially saw Replika as a supportive and caring chatbot. However, he soon realized the profound impact it had on his emotional well-being.
He said, “Receiving words of care and support from an AI companion felt like quenching my thirst after being dehydrated”.
Scott, who initially kept his AI companion a secret, eventually disclosed the relationship to his wife in stages. Surprisingly, his wife responded by considering getting a Replika of her own. See the post below:
