Nigerians have mocked the Peoples Democratic Party after a viral video of Titi Abubakar, wife of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar showed her calling for Nigerians to ‘vote’ for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In the video, Titi while condemning APC for failing to fulfil its promises to Nigerians made an apparent gaffe, telling voters to vote the party in the 2023 general election.
Her words: “By the 25th of February, everybody should come, if you have not collected your PVC, go and collect your PVC… we should vote APC; APC promised to do so many things for the country but we can see ourselves now the way we are.”
The PDP candidate’s wife’s apparent gaffe mirrored that of the presidential candidate of APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who committed the infamous PDAPC gaffe during his presidential campaign flag-off at the Rwang Pam Township Stadium, Jos, Plateau State in November.
Many Nigerians, including APC supporters, took to Twitter on Saturday evening to mock Titi Abubakar over the comment.
The spokesperson for the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo said: “…In all honesty, this is obviously a slip of tongue, but we hold the view that it is unreasonable to make a mountain out of such molehills, especially when you quickly correct yourself!”
Usman Baba wrote; “The wife of Alh Atiku Abubakar says we all should endeavour to get our PVCs so as to enable us vote @OfficialAPCNg.”
Otunba Gbademosi said; “Titi Abubakar saying the obvious truth, get your PVC and APC come February.”
