Crisis erupted at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja after the final whistle condemning Nigeria to a trophy less year was blown in the second leg 2022 World Cup qualifying match against Ghana.

Nigeria lost to Ghana after ending the tie with a 1 – 1 draw, giving Ghana an advantage to win by aggregate since Nigeria was unable to score at Kumasi, Ghana during the first leg.
The return leg which held at the National Stadium, Abuja saw a large number of attendance from Nigerians from across the country. The stadium which was filled to the brim with fans from across Nigeria also sparks of high expectations from the Nigerian team by the fans.
Unfortunately, Nigeria was unable to complete a comeback to book their place at the upcoming 2022 World Cup.

Reacting to the loss, hoodlums, mostly among the Nigerian fans invaded the stadium complex, destroying the facility. In several videos which circulated online, hoodlums in tattered dresses were seen breaking the stands, damaging the goal posts and wielding several harmful objects to deface the very important National asset.

After several failed attempt to caution the wild hoodlums from constituting nuisance in the stadium, the Police intervened with the use of tear gas. Several people littering the stadium were seen scampering for safety after the intervention of the security agencies.
Nigerians condemned the actions of these hoodlums, citing that they lost the match and decided to lose such an important asset that hosts international matches. See some reactions below:
