The state Commissioner of Police, Edward Egbuka, confirming the explosion said; “Yes, what happened was that we were informed of a package that looked like a bomb was left on the premises and I immediately deployed the bomb disposal unit there to assess the object.

“The object was immediately blown up. The explosion you heard was the handwork of our bomb disposing unit brought about by their efforts to blow up the object,” he said.

An investigation has also commenced to ascertain what the object was.

This development is coming amidst rise of insecurity challenges in the country. Recall, on Sunday, terrorists in a video threatened to kidnap President Muhammadu Buhari and the governor of Kaduna state, Mal. Nasiru El-Rufai.

Barely twenty four hour after the statement, suspected terrorists were reported to have ambushed presidential guard in Abuja, killing no fewer than four men of the Nigerian Army.
