Recall that result of the Ekiti governorship election on June 18, 2022, was challenged by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Segun Oni.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had shortly after the election was concluded announced the APC candidate, Biodun Oyebanji as the winner of the poll.
Oyebanji scored 187,057 votes to defeat its closest rival, the SDP candidate Chief Segun Oni, which garnered 82,211 votes.
Not satisfied with the declaration by Chief Oni of SDP approached the governorship election petition tribunal, urging it to declare SDP winner having allegedly scored the highest number of valid votes.
