BREAKING: We raze down criminals’ hideouts in the market – Nigerian police clear air on Alaba market fire incident

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) Lagos state command has said there was no fire outbreak at the Alaba International Market in the Ojo Local Government Area of the state.

It was reported earlier that several goods and properties were destroyed in a fire incident that occurred at the market in the morning.

The reported quoted Director, of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye saying mob didn’t allow the fire fighter operatives to quench the inferno.

However, clearing the air on the incident, the Lagos state police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin on his Twitter handle said there was no fire incident, adding that it was police that razed down criminal hideouts in the market.

“This is a false narrative! Acting on credible information, police officers from Ojo Division raided shanties around the market, arrested suspected criminals and recovered some weapons. The shanties were thereafter set on fire,” he tweeted.
