The Department of Political Science was introduced two years after the establishment of the Danfodiyo varsity in 1975.

UDUS is among the second generation university. Others include; the University of Calabar, the University of Ilorin, the University of Jos, the University of Maiduguri, the University of Port Harcourt, and Ado Bayero University, Kano.

In an interview with a campus news outlet – The News Digest, Aliyu said the hope to break the record flashed to his mind after seeing his 100-level results where he made a 4.63 CGPA.

“I started developing the interest of graduating with first class honor when I saw my 100-level results,” he said.

Aliyu revealed that his CGPA suffered a slight frustration and dropped to 4.58 in his second year at the university. Also, in 300-level, he maintained the exact 4.58 and eventually ended up with a CGPA of 4.53.

“Despite the difficulties, challenges, and decrease in my CGPA from 100-level, I have never felt discouraged.”

He equally stated that he was able to achieve the feat through rigorous reading and by not having any romantic relationship that might prevent him from attaining his goal.
