BREAKING: Court sentences billionaire kidnapper Evans, co-defendant to 78 years imprisonment

An Ikeja Special Offences Court has sentenced billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, also known as Evans, and his co-defendant, Victor Aduba to 78 years imprisonment.

While Evans was handed 52 years, the second defendant got 26 years jail term.

This was according to the judgment delivered on Monday, September 19, 2022, by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo.

The two convicts were accused of conspiring and kidnapping Sylvanus Ahanonu Hafia on June 23, 2014, at Kara Street, Amuwo Odofin in Lagos.

They were alleged to have captured and detained Hafia and demanded a ransom of $2m.

Recall, that in February 2022, the court under Justice Hakeem Oshodi had equally sentenced Evans to life imprisonment along  with two others, Uchenna Amadi and Okuchuwkwu Nwachukwu

They were convicted on two counts of conspiracy and kidnapping of a businessman, Donatus Duru.

In reaching his verdict on Evans, the judge held that he observed the demeanour of the witness, stating that in some of the confessional videos played in court, Evans had mentioned some of the other defendants and the roles they played in the crime.
