Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote has grown his fortune over the past three months making a whooping $915 million (N380.38bn) to push his net worth to over $20 billion.
Dangote’s new net worth has earned him the 79th position in the rank of the world richest persons according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, a daily ranking index of the world’s richest people.
Dangote began 2022 on a shaky note, losing $244 million in a single day after finishing 2021 in a relatively solid position, but his recent feat has made him richer than all Russian billionaires except four.
The decline of Russian billionaires helped Dangote in advancing his position in the rich list ranking.
At the start of 2022, there were seven Russian Oligarchs richer than Dangote. They include: Leonid Mikhelson, Vladimir Potanin, Alexey Mordashov, Vladimir Lisin Vagit Alekperov, Gennady Timchenko, and Alisher Usmanov.
However, as of the end of March 2022, Dangote is now richer than all Russian billionaires except Vladimir Putin, Leonid Mikhelson, Alexey Mordashov, and Vladimir Lisin.
Dangote’s latest ranking in March is one of the highest levels he has ever been.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk maintains his position as the world’s richest man with an estimated net worth of $273 billion, followed by Jeff Bezos with a $188 billion estimated net worth, while Bernard Arnault is the third richest man with a $148 billion estimated net worth.
