Dangote thanks Nigerians for supporting refinery, promises high-quality fuels and more job opportunities

The Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, has appreciated the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, and Nigerians at large for the support given towards the establishment of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Plant.

The businessman expressed his appreciation on Monday, May 20, 2023, during the inauguration of the refinery situated in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos state.

“Thank you Mr. President Buhari your sustained support and encouragement have been a source of great motivation and strength,” Dangote said.

“When I felt like giving up, your confidence and quiet words of assurance have made the difference. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.

“Well, what I want to share with Nigerians is actually to show my personal gratitude and that of the Dangote Group, for all the assistance that we got from the President, from the Federal Government of Nigeria, from even the President-Elect, because he also set the pace by creating the Lekki Free Trade Zone as part of his dream.

“And also we want to thank most especially Governor Fashola, Governor Ambode and most especially Governor Sanwo-Olu; because they have given us all the assistance that we were looking for.

“We thank all Nigerians for giving us their support which is too numerous to mention.”

Dangote said his first goal is to ramp up production of the various products to ensure that within this year, they are able to fully satisfy the nation’s demand for quality products.

“There will be constant availability of high-quality fuels for our transportation sector, the refinery will also make available to our industries vital raw materials for wide range of manufacturing,” he said.

“Our Group’s corporate vision is driven by our mission to produce what we consume and to promote self-sufficiency in the basic needs of our people.

“We decided on a plant designed with state-of-the-art technology and a scale in a capacity that will be a game-changer in Africa and the global market.”

He said he has built a refinery with a capacity to process 650k barrels per day in a single train which is the largest in the world.

According to Dangote, they have selected the best plants, equipment and the latest technologies from across the world.

“Overall, we are committed to operating our plant in line with int’l best practice, recognising the importance of protecting the environment, we have adopted stringent environmental, health & safety policies.”

The $19 billion project which is the world’s largest single-train refinery in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos was funded by Dangote. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has a 20% stake in the refinery.
