Ekiti governor Oyebanji suspends commissioner barely five days after inauguration

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has suspended his newly appointed Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Home Affairs, Olaiya Atibioke with immediate effect.

The Commissioner, who is one of those inaugurated less than a week ago, bagged the suspension for unauthorised departure from the venue of a three-day retreat organized for them.

According to a statement signed by Mr Yinka Oyebode, the Special Adviser (Media) to Governor  Oyebanjithe Commissioner was nowhere to be found during the signing of the performance charter.

Governor Oyebanji, who fully participated in all the sessions of the 72-hour retreat, had earlier stated that there would be zero tolerance for indiscipline and poor performance.

On Tuesday, Oyebanji inaugurated 19 additional commissioners and 14 special advisers, while charging them to “hit the ground running”.
