Emotional moment as white Police hugs crying black girl who asked ‘are you gonna shoot us?’

A white police hugs a crying black girl during a protest at United States against the unlawful killing of George Floyd. The 5-year old black girl by the name Simone Bartee, was out protesting with her parents in Houston on Saturday.

She bursts into tears asking the question “are you gonna shoot us?”

A passing officer noticed the schoolgirl was upset and put his arm around her when she asked him: “Are you gonna shoot us?”

In a bid to reassure her, he gave her a hug and said: “We’re here to protect you okay? We’re not here to hurt you at all.

“You can protest, you can party, you can do whatever you want.”

The emotional moment was captured on video by her parents Sion and Simeon, who were seen wiping away her tears afterwards.

The family-of-three were marching over the death of George Floyd, 46, an unarmed black man who died in Minneapolis after white police officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee against his neck for more than eight minutes.

He died shortly after screaming: “I can’t breathe”.

Mr Chauvin faces charges of second-degree murder, while three of his colleagues who were present stand accused of aiding and abetting.

Mr Floyd’s death has sparked protests across the US and the world, with thousands breaking coronavirus restrictions to show their solidarity.
