Suspected gunmen has killed four people during an attack carried out at the home of the Chairman of the Council Area, Steve Orogwu, in Ịkwo Local Government Area.
It was gathered that the hoodlums stormed the resident late yesterday, May 17, 2022, and burnt down the chairman’s family house.
Three of the deceased were said to be his relatives and the fourth person was a security guard on duty post.
The Council boss, Mr. Orogwu, confirmed the incident on Wednesday May 18, 2022 to journalists.
According to him, “They attacked my family compound at Ikwo at night and killed my elder brother, two of his sons, and a security guard.”
He further said the gunmen set ablaze the family’s house in the compound.

It was further gathered that the corpses of the victims had been taken to a mortuary in Abakaliki.
The reason for the attack could not be ascertained at the time of this report.

Therefore, reasons for the attack could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report on Wednesday morning.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs. Loveth Odah, said she was away on an official assignment when reached by our correspondent for comments on the matter.
Odah was yet to respond to messages sent to her mobile by our correspondent on the matter as of the time of filing this report.
