Gunmen launch another attack in Kaduna, kidnap Emir’s 9 children

Gunmen have launched another attack in Kaduna and abducted nine children and grandchildren of the Emir of Kagarko, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Sunday night, May 7, 2023.

One of the members of the community, Alhaji Musa Jibril, said that the bandits stormed the town around 11:15 pm and headed straight to the Emir’s palace.

They took away nine children and grandchildren and his youngest wife, who later escaped, he claimed.

According to Jibril, the gunmen also abducted three other members of the community, including a lady. They also injured a villager, Audu Kwakulu of Ungwan Pah, who is presently at the hospital receiving treatment.

The bandits reportedly killed one herdsman in Kuchimi village and looted seven shops in Janjala village (both in Kagarko LGA) on their way out.

The Kaduna State Police Command spokesman, DSP Muhammed Jalige has yet to respond to calls at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, earlier, it was reported that no fewer than 40 worshippers were abducted during a service at Bege Baptist Church, Madala on Buruku Baringi road in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Kaduna State chapter, Rev. John Joseph Hayab confirmed the development on Monday, May 8, 2023.

Hayab said the incident happened at about 9:30 am when the worshippers were in the service.

“The worshippers were in the Sunday service in the Church when around 9:30 am they heard gunshots very close to the Church. The gunmen attacked the Church and went away with 40 worshippers,” he said.

He, however, added that 15 of the abducted worshippers escaped, leaving behind 25 others who were at present in the kidnappers’ den.
