“In Nigeria, we beg terrorists” – APC’s Fani-Kayode attacks Buhari’s government as US kills leader of Al-Qaeda

A former Minister of Aviation and chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Femi Fani-Kayode, has criticised the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, saying it is fond of appeasing terrorists, instead of eliminating them.

Fani-Kayode’s comments comes after Ayman al-Zawahiri, the leader of the Salafi-jihadist group al-Qaeda and successor of late Osama bin Laden, was killed by a United States drone strike in Kabul, Afghanistan.

President Biden had ordered a U.S. airstrike in Kabul, Afghanistan, that killed al-Zawahiri.

Al-Zawahiri was an early mentor to former Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, who was killed by U.S. forces while hiding in Pakistan in 2011.

Al-Zawahiri, who had helped to plan the September 11 attacks on the U.S., had gone into hiding following the attacks, and was located by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) months before the assassination.

However, Fani-Kayode reacting to the development on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, queried the Nigerian government for rewarding terrorists instead of killing them.

His tweet reads, ”The Americans killed Osama Bin Ladin, AbuBakr Al Baghdadi & now Ayman Al Zawahiri.

“Kudos! In Nigeria we do not kill terrorists: we beg them, pay them, appease them, reward them, bow before them, give them chieftaincy titles & let them break into prisons to free their brothers,” he tweeted.
