Innoson awards 16-year-old daughter of Okada rider who emerged overall best student in UTME N3m scholarship

Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company has awarded 16-year-old Ejikeme Joy, the overall best-performing candidate in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with a scholarship worth N3 million.

Joy, a student of the Anglican Girls Secondary School (AGSS) Nnewi, Anambra state, Ejikeme Joy, emerged as the overall best student in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with an aggregate score of 362.

Joy’s English Language, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry scores were broken down as 98%, 89%, 94%, and 81%, respectively.

The leading Nigerian automobile manufacturer, founded by Chief Dr Innocent Chukwuma OFR, demonstrating its commitment to academic excellence provided financial support to the young girl, enabling her to pursue her tertiary education with ease in the next five years.

In a statement issued by Cornel Osigwe, Innoson’s head of corporate communications on Monday, the company said it will continue to demonstrate its commitment to social responsibility through various initiatives, including awarding scholarships, job creation, and support for local communities.

Overwhelmed with happiness, Joy thanked Chief Chukwuemeka for his benevolence and assured him that as long as her performance was rewarded, she would put more effort into her academic pursuit.

Ejikeme, who further revealed that she is an indigene of Enugu state, but resides in Nnewi with her father, a commercial motorcycle operator (Okada rider), added that she would make Chief Chukwuma proud by showing greater devotion to her academics.

In a related development, a brilliant 15-year-old boy, Lotanna Azuokeke, has scored 99 out of 100 marks in mathematics in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Azuokeke, a student of Bishop Otubelu Juniorate, Trans Ekulu, Enugu state scored 88 in chemistry, 86 in physics, and 64 in the English Language which made him got 337 in total.

This was disclosed via a statement issued on Thursday, May 4, by Dr Chiwuike Uba, the Media Adviser to the Bishop of the Diocese of Nike (Anglican Communion), the Founder of the school.
