Insecurity: Presidency confirms attack on Chief of Staff’s residence in Abuja

Following reports of attack on Aso Rock yesterday, the Presidency has cleared the air on the security breach that happened in the Nation’s powerhouse.

In a statement by the Presidential Spokesperson, Mallam Garba Shehu, he confirmed that there was a robbery attempt on the Chief of Staff’s residence but not in the Aso Villa as the CoS lives some streets away from the villa.

He described the attempt as “foolish” saying that Professor Ibrahim Gambari had assured that there was nothing to worry about from the incident.

He said: “The Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari has confirmed that there “was a foolish attempt” to burgle his residence at 3:00am this morning but it turned out to be unsuccessful.

“Professor Gambari, whose house is on a street next to the Villa has assured that there is nothing to worry about from the incident.

He also mentioned that there was also an attempted burgle at the residence of the Administrative Officer, Abdullahi Maikano.

“The police, in a related development is searching for a suspected burglar who unsuccessfully attempted to break into the house of Maikano Abdullahi on Thursday, last week. Maikano lives on the same street with the Chief of Staff, close to the Villa.,” he said.
