Sources said the oldest among the victims is pregnant and the others are her four children, non of which are up to fifteen years old.

Although the report is still sketchy, it was gathered that IPOB had murdered them because they were Muslims and also northern Nigeria.

Recall, following the death of Deborah Samuel in Sokoto who was killed over alleged blashphemy, the IPOB had threatened to retaliate her gruesome murder. Some quarters claimed that the action of the southeast secessionist group is nothing but a retaliation.

The Anambra State Police Command had yet to confirm the development as its spokesman, Ikenga Tochukwu, said details of the incidents were still sketchy.

The incident is coming barely after a day that the gunmen had beheaded an Anambra State lawmaker Hon Okechukwu Okoye, representing Aguata II State constituency. Okoye was initially abducted along with his driver in Aguata on May 15, 2022.

Similarly, in the last 24 hours, one person was said to have been killed at Abatete in the Idemili North local government area of the state while another was killed in the Nanka Orumba North local government area.

Meanwhile, tension has heightened in Anambra as a result of incessant killings.

The killings have been on the rise since Prof Charles Soludo assumed office as governor.
