JUST IN: Fire razes 10 buildings as petrol-laden tanker explodes in Ogun

No fewer than 10 buildings have been gutted after a loaded tanker fell and exploded in the boundary between Olambe and Matogun, in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.

In a statement issued on Saturday, September 3, 2022, in Lagos by Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, Zonal Coordinator, South West, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the incident reportedly occurred at about 7 a.m.

Farinloye said, “Though, no life was lost or any injuries sustained, about 10 buildings were consumed in the incident.

“The situation was mitigated with most of the content spilling into the canal close to the scene.

“This saved the community from a serious incident that could have affected more people,” Farinloye said.

He, however, confirmed that the fire had been put out.

This incident came days after a gas explosion occurred around Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s  Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) camp in Ogun State.

The Redemption City formerly known as Redemption Camp is one of the largest churches in Nigeria and also the campground and international headquarters of the RCCG in Mowe, Ogun State.

There were initially fears that a huge ball of smoke visible from a distance from the church was caused by a bomb explosion.

However, the fears were later dispelled by nearby residents who said the explosion was caused by gas and not on the church premises.
