The Senator-elect for Kano North, Jibrin Barau, has emerged as Deputy Senate President of the 10th Senate unopposed.

Barau’s announcement follows the nomination of Senator David Umahi, representing Kano State.

It also comes after the election of Godswill Akpabio as the Senate President on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.

In the end, Godswill Akpabio, the former Minister of Niger Delta and ex-governor of Akwa Ibom State, emerged victorious over his opponent, Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari, the former governor of Zamfara State.

The results of the race revealed that Senator Godswill Akpabio secured an impressive total of 63 votes, while Senator Abdul Aziz Yari garnered a respectable 46 votes.
