JUST IN: PDP’s Caleb Mutfwang declared winner of Plateau governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Caleb Mutfwang, candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the Plateau State governorship election.
The result announced by the INEC Presiding Officer, Musa Yusuf, after counting the votes scored by parties that participated in the election showed that Mutfwang had the highest votes beating the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Nentawe Yilwatda.
Recall that the PDP governorship candidate was reported to be taking an early lead as of 11 am when INEC resumed collations of results from the 17 local government areas of the state.

However, INEC has taken a recess and would resume announcing the winner of the election.
In a related development, the Speaker of Zamfara State House of Assembly, Nasiru Muazu Magarya, has lost his reelection bid to represent Zurmi West State constituency in the Assembly.
Magarya, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), lost to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bilyaminu Isma’il, in the just-concluded State Assembly elections held on Saturday in the State.
Announcing the results, the returning officer for the Constituency, Muddasir Ismail Moriki, said Speaker Magarya scored 9,530 votes, while his challenger, Ismail Bilyaminu, of the PDP scored 11,213 votes.
“Therefore, Isma’il Bilyaminu of the PDP having satisfied the requirements of the law has been declared elected,” he declared.
Similarly, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Musa Yankuzo, also lost his reelection bid to the candidate of the PDP in the election.
