JUST IN: Tinubu holds meeting with service chiefs as he departs Nigeria to attend G-20 summit in India (Video)

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has held a crucial meeting with the nation’s service chiefs ahead of his trip to participate in the G-20 Summit in India.

The second regular routine national security council meeting which was held on Monday, September 4, 2023, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja was attended by Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa; Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-General Taoreed Lagbaja; Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, and Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla.

The meeting which is held behind closed doors, usually feeds the President on the general security situation in the country, including a review of areas where they (service chiefs) need to double effort as well as tie loose ends and close gaps.

Tinubu would later in the day proceed to New Delhi, India to attend the G-20 Leaders Summit on the special invitation of Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

On the sidelines of the Summit, the President will participate in and deliver keynote addresses at both the Nigeria-India Presidential Roundtable and the Nigeria-India Business Conference.

President Tinubu aims to leverage this platform to attract global capital and promote increased foreign direct investments in key labour-intensive sectors of Nigeria’s economy for job creation and revenue expansion.

Moreover, he will use this opportunity to highlight Nigeria’s attractiveness as an investment destination, specifically outlining his cross-sectoral reform plan as encapsulated by the Renewed Hope Agenda.
