JUST IN: Two killed as gunmen attack Igangan Police station in Oyo

Two people have been killed as unknown gunmen attacked Igangan Police station in Ibarapa North Local Government area of Oyo State.

According to reports, the incident happended last night, Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

A top senior police officer who confirmed the incident said one of the persons killed was a Divisional Crime Officer, (DCO), while the other was a suspect who was in detention.

The incident happened last night with reports suggesting that a Divisional Crime Officer and a suspect who was in detention were killed in the process.

It was also gathered that an Inspector and some suspects were on a danger list as a result of gunshot wounds.

When contacted the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police, SP, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the incident and said: “The Commissioner of Police, CP, is on his way to the place. We are already in Oke Ogun as we speak. I will get back to you when we get there.”

Ibarapa has been in the news over clashes between farmers and herders.

In June 2021, no fewer than 17 persons were reportedly shot dead by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen at Igangan, in the Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Also, barely a month after, four people, including a leader of the Amotekun corps, were reportedly killed in an attacked which happened at Igangan again.

The incident later generated into uproar across the country and was said to be party of increased the agitation of Yoruba Nation.
