Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike has visited the scene of a building collapse in the Garki District of Abuja.
It was reported earlier that a two-storey building housing many business centres went down around 10 p.m. on Wednesday.
The Head of Public Affairs of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Nkechi Isa, confirmed the death toll and said 37 persons have been rescued from the building which served residential and commercial purposes.

The bodies of the deceased persons have been deposited in a morgue.
It was later earnt that rescue operations to pull more people out of the rubble are still ongoing.
Addressing journalists at the incident scene on Thursday morning, Wike reiterated his earlier comment that buildings without proper approval within the nation’s capital would be pulled down.
“This is what we are saying: any building without approval will go down.
“We don’t hate anybody. All we are saying is the proper thing should be done,” he said.
