Former governor of Kaduna state, Nasiru El-Rufai has dropped a cryptic message after the Nigerian Senate failed to confirm him as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s minister.
Recall that El-Rufai’s name was among the 48 ministerial nominees forwarded by Tinubu to the upper legislative chamber for screening and confirmation.
However, during the screening on August 7, 2023, the former Kaduna state governor and two other nominees were not confirmed by the senate.

The senate said there were “adverse” security reports against el-Rufai, and he is required to await clearance.
The development generated reactions within and outside the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Although there were reports that el-Rufai had opted to bow out of the race due to the delay, the former Kaduna governor has remained silent on the issue.
But in a post on X — formerly Twitter — on Sunday, August 20, 2023, El-Rufai shared the lyrics of Bob Marley’s ‘Who The Cap Fit’.
“Man to man is so unjust, children/ Ya don’t know who to trust/ Your worst enemy could be your best friend/ And your best friend, your worse enemy/ Some will eat and drink with you,” the former governor wrote.
“Thank God, we’re past the worse/ Hypocrites and parasites (hypocrites and parasites)/ Will come up and take a bite (will come up and take a bite)/ And if your night should turn to day/ A lot of people would run away/ And who the cap fit let them wear it!/ Who the cap fit let them wear it!”
In what appears to be a reference to El-Rufai’s post, Shehu Sani, former Kaduna senator, tweeted that he has “turned him into a Rastafarian and Reggae artist”.
I have turned him into a Rastafarian and Reggae artist…yeah man.

The ex-Senator had earlier bantered about El-Rufai’s travail in the ministerial race after reports broke that the ministerial nominee had lost interest in the job.
“James applied for a job. James wrote exams for the job. James attended an interview for the job. James failed the exam and failed the interview. James came out to the gate and told his friends that he has withdrawn his interest in the Job,” Sani posted with a laughing emoji.
Both men fell out after the 2015 elections which led to the emergence of El-Rufai as governor and Sani, a senator.
All efforts to reconcile the duo did not yield result and El-Rufai vowed that Sani would not return to the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly.
Incumbent Governor of Kaduna, Uba Sani, who is a close associate of El-Rufai, took over Sani’s senate seat, having won the APC ticket for Kaduna central following the disqualification of the former senator from the race.
El-Rufai’s associate eventually won the general election.
