MTN Nigeria has reacted after a technical glitch resulted in a temporary removal of debt from the accounts of subscribers who had borrowed airtime from the company.
Recall, that it was earlier reported that some MTN users observed that the debt they owed the company had been cleared.
While some subscribers believed that MTN intentionally cleared their debts, expressing joy on social media, the company has clarified that it was a system glitch and not a deliberate action.

In the statement issued to address the development, MTN Nigeria said; “System glitch impacting balance enquiries.
“MTN Nigeria Communications Plc can confirm a system glitch impacting balance enquiries. As a result, some customers may receive error messages showing that their balances have been cleared.
“This is not the case, and all balances will reflect accurate figures once the problem is resolved. Our engineers are currently working to ensure this.
“Please accept our apologies. We regret the inconvenience.
“Thank you.”
The statement reassures subscribers that the company is actively working to resolve the issue, and once fixed, accurate balance figures will be restored.
