Sad story of how missing Akwa Ibom job seeker got raped, murdered in cold blood (Video)

It was a dark sunday for Nigerians, most especially the families and friends of Iniubong Umoren, after the news of her death came out days after she was declared missing.

Iniubong Umoren who goes by the name @HinyHumoren on twitter, a fresh graduate of the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom, had on the Tuesday the 27th of April posted on her twitter page an announcement that she is need of a job, asking that Nigerians should help her find a job in Akwa Ibom State.

“please I’m really in need of a job, something to do to keep mind and soul together while contributing dutifully to the organisation. My location is Uyo…,” she wrote on twitter.

Her tweet got a lot of reactions and she was later invited for a job interview by a man who later happened to be a killer and rapist.

According to a close friend of Iniubong Umoren known as Umoun Uduak, who declared that she was in trouble on Thursday – the day of her “supposed” interview, she narrated that Umoren told “her that she was going for a job interview at airport road which is quite far from her house.”

She thereafter raised an alarm that she sent a 1-sec audio which sounded like she was struggling.

Posting on twitter, she said:

However, after seeking for help and tracking her location in connection with the her alleged killer known as Sir Edem – who invited her for interview, she was discovered dead.

Her close friend Uduak Umoh, broke the news of her death in an outcry on the microblogging platform. “They raped and killed my friend,” she wrote in a terse post.

POLICE INTERVENTION

The Akwa-Ibom State Police Command spokesman has confirmed that the state police command has arrested Akpan (20) for “kidnapping, raping, and killing the victim”.

He said the command received a report of the deceased’s disappearance on April 30 and deployed a team of officers from its anti-kidnapping squad who arrested the suspect.

He stated the suspect has confessed to committing the crime and that the body of the victim have been retrieved for autopsy. Men of the anti-kidnapping squad… arrested the perpetrator who confessed to luring his victim to his house in the guise of giving her a job, but ended up sexually and physically assaulting her which led to her death,” the Police statement reads.

“The suspect confessed to have told his local government chairman of his atrocity before escaping to Calabar and was never at any time handed over to the police by anyone.

Mcdon said the police have commenced an investigation on the incident, adding that Akpan will be charged to court. He also urged job seekers to be wary of online scammers.

FAMILY DEMAND TO SEE THE CORPSE

Following the retrieval of the corpse by men of the Nigerian Police, the family members of the deceased has demanded that they release the body to them or at least let them see her face.

The family of the deceased have bot been able to see her as the Police had already started investigation into the case. Explaining what is being done to the family of the deceased, the Police spokesman pleaded that they allow them to carry out all necessary procedures.

He explained that the suspected had confessed and that truly, she was assaulted both sexually and physically and thereafter buried her in a shallow grave.
