Zamfara State House of Assembly has made a rejoinder on allegation that two of its suspended members connived with bandits to assassinate a former member of the Assembly, Muhammad Ahamad.
Recall that INTEL REGION reported that Director-General, Press Affairs and Public Relations of the House of Assembly, Mustafa Jafaru Kaura, had in a statement stated that its member Yusuf Alhassan Kanoma during plenary session alleged that they should suspended – Yusuf Muhammad Anka and Ibrahim Tukur Bakura , pending investiagtion
But, Kaura, in a fresh statement yesterday, reliquished his earlier statement, disclosing that members of the House only made reference to the gruesome murder of the late member by the armed bandits, who mostly operate within and outside the state.
The suspended members were only penalised ,according to Kaura, “for an alleged involvement in banditry activities in particular in the act of omission or commission of assassination of late Muhammad Ahamad (Walin Jangeru) member that represented Shinkafi Constituency in the state of Assembly during his life time”
However, we also reported that one of the lawmakers denied the allegation and stated that, he was only attacked, because he initiated the impeachment of the speaker
Kaura, who accused the media of peddling distorted reports though they were facts contained in his earlier statement, said:
“The House at this material time is unequivocally clear and stands on its position that the two embattled honourable members remained suspended pending the outcome, determination and findings of the ethics and privileges committee of the House as provided by law.”
