The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced that the Super Eagles will open camp for their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe on Monday, September 4, 2023.
The camp will be held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, and will be led by new head coach Jose Peseiro.
The Portuguese coach was appointed in May 2022, and this will be his eleventh time in charge of the Super Eagles, won 4 and lost 6.
The Super Eagles have already qualified for the 2023 AFCON, but they will still be looking to finish top of Group A.

They currently lead the group with 12 points, two points ahead of Guinea-Bissau.
The match against Sao Tome and Principe is scheduled to be played on Monday, September 4, 2023, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
The Super Eagles are expected to name a strong squad for the qualifier, with a number of key players returning to the fold. These include Victor Osimhen, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Wilfred Ndidi.
The Super Eagles will be looking to build on their recent good form in the AFCON qualifiers. They have won four of their last five matches, scoring 16 goals and conceding only four goals.
Peseiro will be hoping to lead the team to a fourth AFCON title, which would be their first since 2013.
The Super Eagles are one of the most successful teams in African football, having won three AFCON titles.
They are also the most popular team in Africa, with a large and passionate fan base.
The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations will be played in Côte d’Ivoire between January 13 and February 11, 2024.
