Andre Onana was furious at Harry Maguire after making a defensive blunder in Manchester United’s loss to Dortmund.
Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana was furious with Harry Maguire after the England defender made a defensive blunder in the team’s 3-2 pre-season friendly loss to Borussia Dortmund on Monday.
Onana was furious with Maguire’s decision to play the short pass, and he sprinted out of his goal to berate the defender.
The Cameroonian goalkeeper was seen shouting and pointing at Maguire, and he even appeared to shove the England captain.
Manchester United’s replacement for David De Gea, signed for £43.9 million, is expected to bring a passing influence to a team that has consistently struggled with playing out from the back.
But, in addition to contributing to Erik ten Hag’s style of play, it appears the goalkeeper is also holding his teammates accountable.
Onana came on as a half-time substitute for Tom Heaton in the 3-2 loss to Borussia Dortmund. And he was called into action within three minutes.
Onana was furious at his defense for allowing such an opportunity after making a fine one-on-one save against Sebastian Haller, getting down low to his left.
His rage was directed specifically at Harry Maguire.
