Arsenal have suffered a major injury blow ahead of their Premier League clash with Manchester United, with midfielder Thomas Partey ruled out with a thigh injury.
The Ghana international, who has been a key player for the Gunners this season, picked up the injury in training on Friday and is expected to be out for several weeks.
The 30-year-old has started all three Premier League games so far at right-back.
But Mikel Arteta will now be forced to reshuffle his starting XI for the big clash at the Emirates.
UK Metro reports that Partey has not been called up to Ghana’s squad ahead of the upcoming international break.
According to the Ghanaian Football Association, they have been informed by Arsenal that the midfielder will be sidelined “for a while”.
Arsenal have seven points from their first three matches ahead of the game.
The Gunners will be hoping that Partey can make a speedy recovery, but his absence will certainly make their task of beating Manchester United more difficult.
The match between Arsenal and Manchester United is scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at the Emirates Stadium in London.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 4:30 PM.
