Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies forced to stop training after being diagnosed with a heart problem

Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies has been forced to stop training after diagnosed with inflammation of the heart after suffering Covid and he will be out for some weeks.

Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann has confirmed that Canada’s International is suffering from a mild heart infection.

After recovering from the virus, Davis was discovered during regular health checks at the club’s headquarters. And these highlighted the signs of mild myocarditis. Ace is expected to miss “weeks” of training due to his condition being monitored.

Nagelsmann said today: “(On Thursday), during our follow-up examination that we do with every player that has had Covid-19, we detected signs of mild myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle.

“He has stopped training for now, so he won’t be available to us for the next weeks.

“This myocarditis isn’t too dramatic based on the ultrasound, but more simply signs of an inflammation.

“Nevertheless, it needs to heal and that will no doubt take some time.”

The news arrives two weeks before Canada is ready to play three important World Cup qualifiers. Nine Bayern Munich players tested positive for Covid earlier this month after the Bundesliga winter vacation.

Nevertheless, they had to play last Friday and slipped home with Mönchengladbach with 21 points.
