BREAKING: Barcelona sacks Koeman, turns beam on Xavi to become new Manager

Barcelona have sacked Ronald Koeman as the Head Coach after the club suffered a defeat against Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday for the first time since 2002.

Barcelona since the departure of Lionel Messi is struggling to catch up to their normal standard having won just five out of thirteen games so far this season. Koeman’s side was defeated in El Clásico to rival Real Madrid (1-2) last Sunday and most recently by the newly promoted Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday evening by a goal to nil scored by Colombian striker Radamel Falcao.

Announcing the club’s decsion to move forward, Barcelona’s President, Joan Laporta informed the Ex-Manager that he has been sacked.

The club statement reads: “FC Barcelona has relieved Ronald Koeman of his duties as first team coach. The president of the Club, Joan Laporta, informed him of the decision after the defeat against Rayo Vallecano. Ronald Koeman will say goodbye to the squad on Thursday at the Ciutat Esportiva.”

“FC Barcelona would like to thank him for his service to the Club and wishes him all the best in his professional career.”

Barcelona’s preferred choice as replacement has also been widely announced as Xavi Hernandez, the current Manager of Qatari side, Al Saad.

Xavi, a Barcelona legend has been tipped to be the club’s favorite, although there has been no official announcement.

According to Fabrizio Romano, there’s no announcement in place yet for Koeman replacement at Barcelona as it is going to take some few hours to negotiate with Xavi to leave Al Sadd and become the new manager.

In a recent report by Marca, Xavi said he is ready to coach any team in the world. He’s already won the Qatari title, as well as two Qatari Cups and two Qatari lead cups. The Spaniard has also won the Qatari Super Cup and Qatari Stars Cup.

He said: “Yes, I feel ready to coach any team in the world. 

“When they offered me it, I’d only been a coach for three months, but now it’s different. I have more experience and I’m learning a lot here.
