Chelsea suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Saturday.
Alexander Isak gave the Magpies the lead in the 13th minute, but Raheem Sterling equalized 10 minutes later after Jamaal Lascelles had made an error during the first half.
But Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles restored his side the lead in the 60th minute with a bullet header.
Joelinton took advantage of Thiago Silva’s gaffe on the day he became the Blues’ oldest outfielder at 39 years and 64 days old, making it 3-1 in the 61st minutes.
Anthony Gordon scored a fine solo goal seven minutes from time to seal a thumping 4-1 win, the perfect response to the Magpies’ 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth before the international break.
The defeat was Chelsea’s fifth of the season, and it leaves them in eleventh place in the Premier League table. Newcastle, meanwhile, moved up to sixth place.
