Manchester United defeated Arsenal 2-0 in a pre-season friendly in the United States, with goals from Fernandes and Sancho.
Manchester United maintained their winning start to their pre-season tour of the United States with a 2-0 victory over Arsenal in a friendly at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring for United in the 30th minute with a well-taken shot from outside the box, and Jadon Sancho doubled the lead in the 60th minute with a clinical finish.
Arsenal had a few chances to get back into the game, but they were unable to find the back of the net.
The win was a good start for United’s pre-season preparations, and it will give them confidence ahead of their upcoming Premier League campaign.
Fernandes was named Man of the Match for his performance, which included a number of fine passes and a goal that was a contender for goal of the season.
Sancho also had a good game, and his goal was a reminder of his potential.
Eddie Nketiah missed a decent chance to reduce the arrears after being played in by Martin Odegaard’s clever free-kick and Havertz sent a looping header just over as Arsenal tried to salvage some pride.
United manager Erik ten Hag will be pleased with the performance of his team, and he will be hoping that they can build on this result in their next pre-season friendly, which is against Wrexham on Wednesday.
